BrosMed Announces CE Mark and Launch for Minerva™ Balloon Dilatation Catheter

April 14, 2015—BrosMed announced the CE Mark and launch of its Minerva™ percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTA) dilatation catheter for the treatment of patients with peripheral arterial disease.
As part of the BrosMed Medical balloon catheter portfolio, this new-generation, high-performance workhorse 0.018-inch semi-compliant PTA balloon catheter is intended to dilate stenoses in iliac, femoral, iliofemoral, popliteal, infrapopliteal and renal arteries. It is also indicated for the treatment of obstructive lesions of native or synthetic arteriovenous dialysis fistulae and for post-dilatation of balloon-expandable and self-expanding stents in the peripheral vasculature.
According to the company, the Minerva™ catheter is designed to provide outstanding crossability with a comprehensive selection of balloon sizes on its 0.018-inch over-the-wire platform. The device is available in balloon diameters from 1.5 to 10mm and lengths from 5 to 200mm, with catheter lengths available in 70cm, 90cm and 150cm. Minerva™ combines state-of-the-art engineered balloon technology and superior hydrophilic coating with a low-profile body and unique manicured tip design to enhance crossability and pushability. Constructed with engineered materials, the catheter has consistent rated burst pressures of 14atm from Ø1.5 to Ø10mm.
